The Housing Authority of DeKalb County (HADC) engaged BG as HUD Program Manager in 2007 for a four year term to manage the revitalization of the 56.55 acre former 498 unit public housing community, Johnson Ferry East. The Revitalization Plan provides for a mixed use development called Brookleigh using the principles of new urbanism. All project financing is being completed without the benefit of a HOPE VI Grant.

Working with HADC and its selected Development Partner, NorSouth, BG is providing Program Management Services for this revitalizing mixed-income, mixed-finance community. BG developed the Revitalization Plan, secured HUD Disposition Plan approval, closed on two phases of Senior affordable rentals, and coordinated project activities for HADC.

Project Highlights:

  • Total of 846 units of for-sale and rental housing
  • 438 Senior units at affordable and market rental rates
  • 408 single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums at affordable and market sales prices
  • 85,000 square feet of retail development
  • $85 million investment
  • Project Duration 2007 - Current
